Feb. 7, 2007 Garden City, N.Y. - Senior Matt Jordan (Valley Stream, N.Y.) and sophomore Ify Anene (Reynoldsburg, OH) have been named Adelphi's Athletes of the Wee for the week of February 5, 2007. Jordan helped the men to a 58-35 win, picking up two individual victories. Jordan took home first in the 50 and 100-yard freestyle events with times of 22.00 and 49.44 respectively. He also helped the 200 freestyle relay pull away with a win in 1:33.65. The win raised Adelphi's dual meet record to 6-1. Adelphi's next competition will be the Metropolitan Conference Championships. Anene turned in two strong performances at the DeSchriver Invitational hosted by East Stroudsburg on February 3. In the 3000-meter run Anene cruised to victory, taking control of the race with 1000 meters to go and running away from the field, posting a season's best time of 11:03.34. Anene also anchored Adelphi's second place distance medley relay, helping the team finish with a time of 13:19.04. Adelphi returns to action on Saturday, February 10 when they compete in both the CTC Championships and the ECC Championships. |
