Garden City, N.Y. - Junior Mike Marzano (Whitestone, N.Y.) and senior Melanie Mangone (Middle Village, N.Y.) have been named Adelphi's Athletes of The Week for the week of January 31, 2005.

Marzano traveled to West Point, New York on January 29th to compete in the Army Open and posted a personal best time of 1:58.96 in the 800 meter run to capture second place overall. Marzano also anchored the 4x800 meter relay team that topped SUNY Delhi by over six seconds with a time of 8:17.84.

Adelphi returns to action on Sunday February 6th when they travel to East Stroudsburg, Pennsylvania to compete in the DeShriver Invitational.

Mangone became the 15th player to score 1,000 points in Adelphi History in a 96-72 win over Mercy on January 26th. In that game Mangone registered a season-high 26 points and collected her 1,000th point as time expired.

Mangone helped the Panthers to a 1-1 week and had 15 points in a 64-60 loss to Southampton on the 29th of January.

Adelphi returns to action on Tuesday February 1, when they play host to visiting New Haven at 5:30 pm in Woodruff Hall.
