Adelphi University junior Corey McKee (Barrie, Canada) and freshman Emily Campbell (Danbury, CT) have been named Adelphi Athletes of The Week for the week of January 24, 2011.
McKee led the Panthers against St. Rose with three individual wins, taking first place in the 100 yard backstroke (55.55), the 200 yard butterfly (1:58.73) and the 100 yard butterfly (52.55). He narrowly missed NCAA "B" cuts in all three wins, especially the the 100 yard butterfly, finishing just a few ticks over a second away. He was also part of Adelphi's 400 meter medley relay that was victorious in a time of 3:19.80.
The Panthers dive back into the water on February 4 when they travel to New Haven, Connecticut to participate in the Northeast-10 Championship meet.
Campbell posted the highest finish on the women's side at the Albany Great Dane Classic on January 21. She covered four laps of the Armory Track and Field Center's 200 meter oval in 2:19.74, giving her the third fastest time in the Northeast-10 and placing her 13th overall at the meet.
Adelphi returns to the track on Friday, January 28 when they travel to Boston, Massachusetts to compete in the Terrier Invitational.
