Garden City, N.Y. - Senior Eric Martin (Laurelton, N.Y.) and sophomore Gianna Smith (Hempstead, N.Y.) have been named Adelphi's Athlete's of The Week for the week of January 17, 2006.

Martin averaged 14 points, 3.5 rebounds, two assists and 1.5 steals per game last week to help the Panthers to a 2-0 week. In a 68-51 win over New Haven Martin scored a career-high 21 points on a career-best 11 made free throws (11-17).

The Panthers will return to the court on Saturday, January 21 when they travel to Bronxville, New York to take on Concordia College.

Smith scored a career-high 25 points in an overtime loss to Dowling on January 11, then matched that total in a loss to New Haven. She also converted 18 of 22 free throw attempts on the week (82 percent).
