Jantzen Vargas

Vargas enters his fourth season as Head Coach of the Panther's golf team.

In his third season in 2012-13, Vargas led the Panthers to their third Northeast-10 Championship in four years; in addition, the team was selected to the NCAA East/Atlantic Region Tournament. Freshman Ryan Snouffer earned Northeast-10 Player of The Year and Rookie of The Year and he, Louis Kelly and Aaron Burton earned All-Northeast-10 honors. In addition, Snouffer and Kelly were named to the All-Region team.

As a team, they placed in the top-four at six different tournaments including a win at the Adelphi/AIC Invitational.  At the NCAA East/Atlantic Region Tournament, Kelly was the Panther's top finisher, placing 38th.

In his second season in 2011-12, the team finished third in the Northeast-10 Championships and carded a first place finish at the Goldey Beacom Fall Invite. The team earned an NCAA East Regional berth for the sixth straight year. Freshman Louis Kelly was named Northeast-10 Player of the Year and Rookie of the Year, and earned All-Region honors.

In his first year at the team's Head Coach, Vargas led the Panthers to their second straight Northeast-10 Championship and was awarded NE-10 Coach of the Year. Vargas also guided the Panthers to a first-place finish at the Charger Challenge. Adelphi finished in the top-five in three tournaments during the season. The Panthers finished the season with an 18th-pace showing at the NCAA Super Regionals.

A four-year member of the Panthers' from 2004-2008, Vargas had strong career with Adelphi. He was named the East Coast Conference Golfer of the Year in 2007, while capturing the East Coast Conference championship Individual Title as well as the Long Island Intercollegiate Title.

In addition, Vargas was a two-time All-East Coast Conference selection and a four-time East Coast Conference All-Academic honoree. He has also qualified multiple times to compete in the Connecticut State Amatuer, the Connecticut State Open and the Rhode Island Open. A member of the United States Golf Association for more then a decade, Vargas also earned a trip to the 2007 NCAA DIvision II Men's Golf East/Northeast Super Regional, where he placed seventh overall. Vargas has earned two degrees from Adelphi, graduating with his bachelor's in mathematics in 2008 and following that up by earning his MBA in 2010.
